"Space Painting"
15. July 2011 - 20. August 2011
Opening on Friday, 15. July 2011, 18:00 - 21:00
Artists:
Ma Shuqing (China / France)
For Ma Shuqing painting is a way of visual thinking. On two-dimensional painting surfaces, he crates three-dimensional spatial constructions by means of the concrete division of planes. A visible spatial perspective, a resolute choice of colour as well as traces of the painting process are to be found in almost all his abstract painting. By visual perception of his works painterly energy is gradually released. His works slowly release their artistic energy. Thus a world of time and space is experienced, going beyond the scope of visual sensitivity.
Ma Shuqing was born in Tianjin in 1956. He completed his studies in Fine Arts in Munich in 1995, having begun in Tianjing. After that he lived in Paris for several years. Now he lives and works both in Beijing and Paris. For the last two decades he has been conducting research into the field of abstract painting. “Colour and painting should speak for themselves.” This his his guiding principle and the inspiration for his art.

"Newcomer" exhibition is the new concept of SHI FANG Fine Art from this year. We intended to give young artists a platform for self-interpretation. Chinese artists Shao Wei is a new graduates from the Photography Department of Beijing Central Academy of Fine Arts. Currently she is studying at the Düsseldorf Academy of Fine Arts. The exhibition forms involves the display of paintings, photography and video works. Shao Wei's paintings emphasize the expressiveness of integrated materials and different ways of viewing experience. Her photography and video works pay more attention to describe the light and shadow of the speculative space. Some of her works interprets that a train travels through the lights, runs out of the time, and records images of the journey. We hope that these young artists' works could create more discussions and reflections in this exhibition. We also hope this "Newcomer" exhibition could continuously encourage new artists create more art works.

Apr.8,2011-May.6,2011,the exhibition of contemporary chinese artist Xiaozhen Yu will be held in SHI FANG Fine Art. "needlework",also called "women's red work" in China,so we always consider it's done by women as the name suggests. Xiaozhen Yu's work on farbic, using the needle instead of the brush, lines of different colours rank closely, intersected and overprinted, informing color blocks and patterns. It is still seldom occurred to draw with needlework, while we already see lots of expression techniques with kinds of meida in Chinese contemporary art work. we can feel the female artist's most exquisite idea and execution among thread, every single needle complete every small contour or color, but the overall conception is considered first. With classical approach to describe modern art ideas, that what make her works unique.
